Emily Dickinson

On December 10, we celebrate the 178th anniversary of the birth of Emily Dickinson, one of the greatest American poets of all time. Often referred to as the Woman in White, Dickinson gained wide recognition for her poetic talents only after her death in 1886. A recent book, White Heat by Brenda Wineapple, offers a fascinating portrait of Dickinson and her literary contemporaries. Watch a video of her life and browse through a collection of Dickinson’s poetry to reacquaint yourself with the Belle of Amherst and her genius.
